Last night saw the launch of our new CognitionX AI Invest research, investment syndicate and events service. Six startups were selected to pitch to our audience of angel, VC and family office investors, who packed out our venue.
The evening kicked off with reflections from some experienced investors. Azeem Azhar, curator of Exponential View, gave us a high-level picture of the long term AI investment cycle. William Tunstall-Pedoe, founder of Evi, discussed how to evaluate AI startups as an investor. Check Warner of Seraphim Capital gave examples of AI investments by vertical, and the opportunities and challenges of investment in AI. Michael Axelgaard talked of his experiences at the AI seed fund. Later, we also heard from Richard Muirhead of Fabric Ventures, who discussed opportunities at the intersection of blockchain and. AI
First up was Verv. Their CEO, Maria McKavanagh talked us through her peer to peer energy trading product, highlighting both how users can monetise both their energy usage and personal data. Maria also told us she is getting married in two weeks – best of luck for the big day! Well on point with contemporary political life, Factmata’s Dhruv Ghulati then pitched his AI-powered fake news and brand reputation system.
After a presentation from CognitionX on our report for the Mayor’s office, London: The AI Growth Capital of Europe, we then heard from the CEO of Aspirant Analytics, Jason Ku, who showed us some of the remarkable insights gained so far from his people analytics platform.
Vyking’s Matthew Klimpke presented their mobile AR and visual analytics platform. Following him was Granta’s Dr Antony Rix, who outlined their developing reseach in AI powered cancer detection.
Closing the evening came Gweek. Their CEO, James Bryce, outlined their AI powered communications training and behavioral analytics tool.
